Fascia Board Repair in Deerfield Beach, FL

Fascia is the board along the roof edge that the gutters hang off. It is the first thing to rot and the last thing anyone looks at, and because it sits right at the roof edge, a soft fascia is usually water that has already been getting in somewhere for a while.

The Difference

Why people choose Johns Roofing Services for fascia board repair

We find out why it rotted

Fascia does not rot on its own. Something upstream is putting water on it, and replacing the board without fixing that just resets the clock.

Caught early it is cheap

A rotted board is a small job. Once the water reaches the rafter tails and the roof edge behind it, it stops being small.

Gutters come into it

Blocked or badly pitched gutters overflow backwards against the fascia. If that is what caused it, you will hear that from us.

Watch For These

Signs you need fascia board repair

  • Fascia board that feels soft or spongy when pressed
  • Paint peeling or blistering along the roof edge
  • Gutters sagging or pulling away from the house
  • Visible dark staining or streaking down the board
  • Gaps opening between the fascia and the roof edge

Why fascia is a roof problem, not a paint problem

Fascia looks like trim, so it gets treated like trim, painted over and left. But the fascia is the board the roof edge and the gutters fasten to, and once water gets behind it and the wood goes soft, the problem is no longer cosmetic. The gutter loses its anchor, the roof edge loses its backing, and the water that started it keeps working its way toward the framing. We replace the rotten board and deal with why it rotted, a bad gutter line, a failed drip edge, a leak above, so it does not simply come back on the new wood. Catching soft fascia early is a board. Leaving it is the framing.

What our customers say

My patio roof, which has an AC unit on top, started leaking and the wood underneath was completely rotted. I knew it was time to get it repaired before something bad happened. I got quotes from five companies, but none of them impressed me. Some wanted to replace the entire roof, and others didn’t want to open it at all—they just wanted to seal the top and bottom and leave all the rotten wood hidden inside.

Fascia Board Repair - Frequently Asked Questions

How much does fascia board repair cost in Deerfield Beach, FL?

It depends on how many linear feet are involved and whether the damage has reached the rafter tails behind the board. Caught early it is one of the cheaper jobs on this site, and the inspection that tells you which it is costs nothing.

Can you replace just the rotten section of fascia in South Florida?

Often yes. We cut back to sound timber and splice in new. If the rot runs the length of the elevation, replacing the run is the better job.

Do South Florida homes need the gutters replaced along with the fascia?

Not necessarily. They come off to do the work and go back on unless they are shot. If the gutters caused the rot, we will say so.

On a South Florida home, is fascia damage a roofing problem or a carpentry problem?

Both, which is why it gets missed. The rot is carpentry and the cause is nearly always at the roof edge above it.

What happens if I leave rotten fascia on a South Florida home?

Water keeps moving inwards to the rafter tails and the roof deck edge. That turns a fascia job into a structural one.
